Nature of Decay by JenniferJLee Nature of Decay by JenniferJLee
Watercolor, India Ink on 18" x 24"

I wanted to keep my palette very simple this time around.

As always, comments/critiques are much appreciated!

I am amazed how you were able to use the red as a tonal colour and use the different tones of the same colour to denote shadows. That is something I would like to be able to do one day myself.
The ink is a very nice frame to the red. This is beautiful!

There's something really strange, almost disturbing in this piece. I don't even know how to feel, but I still like it very much! :D

A very nice piece. The black strengthens the red. A great composition where the black lines lead you to the red figure.

My first reaction was "ve esa madre" a phrase for which I donīt know how to properly translate it into english, cause if I do a very straight forward translation it might sound ofensive, it could get translated as "see that thing", maybe.

But, I guess, the reaction wasn`t a negative one.

What really stuck with me was, what I think, the flow of movement throught the executing style.

Very nice and with a simple color scheme, though I feel like there is suppose to be something in the upper right corner, like something flying away..

This evokes a lot of feeling. I'm not scared, just ill at ease. It's awe-inspiring, respectful...

Love the abstraction of the skeleton and its form. the palette also makes it very raw, but I think you can make it less literal, because its like you're presenting nature and decay separately. The title could've been nature and decay. Maybe integrate the leaves with the skeleton's body?

Very nice work I really like the detail that you put into the skeleton. The only thing I would have to say is that I would've liked to see the skeleton in a different color. Very nice work nonetheless.

Really dig it. It Reminds me of those old anatomical drawings that made the lungs look like a bean sprouting...I'll never remember that anatomist...anyway great work. Love the contrasting elements

I'm in love with this. I love the way the bones glow red and that you've absolutely nailed the shading on them. it's so intense and goes great with branches and flowers. Great work!
